ten days
they are finished and all dressed
ready to set off on their journeys
for the eight days to come, i will introduce each of our “walk with me” #NBO12 sticks
i am excited for the start of their adventure
the concept has lived in me for some time now
the intention of the project is to allow the night to shape a collaborative inter-active piece in celebration of connectedness, both within ourselves and with those among us. inviting others to actively collaborate taps into the energy of what is most beautiful in life, self-love, connection, self-expression, fun, creation, community
join the flickr group to follow the action starting during Nuit Blanche Ottawa september 22
the group is the canvas for the project. as photos of the journeys are uploaded and shared, the snaps will start to paint a, some, picture

collaborative project for the upcoming Nuit Blanche Ottawa 2012

the dandies, the independently wealthy , the artists of their age
a decade of aesthetics, social debauchery, excess ”
” the style, the characters and the ambiance are to be re-created, not observed
experienced, not observed”
during NBO12, visual artist and photographer Robert Brazeau will, through his lens, capture a 21st century response to this magnificent era and environment
heARTbeatgal and illustrator/cartoonist/orator Otis P Gould III hope to add to the authenticity, as characters to be found in the speakeasy crowd
professional models and enthusiasts of the period Lola Lovestory, Derek Ruston and Marley Lewington will bring their interpretation of the style, glamour and attitude of the era
the experiment completes as Social’s customers and NBO12 participants are lured into the environment, encouraged to release their inhibitions, immerse themselves in the experience of the often excessive and artistic social culture of the 1920’s
hBg is making a call to the universe, and more specifically those with a fetish for the era, to come collaborate with us the evening of September 22, 2012 at Social restaurant

my direction for my Nuit Blanche Ottawa 2012 walking sticks was revealed
two sturdy branches, used to get me out of the woods, complete the collection
as NBO12 announces its artists i am setting to work on the sticks
along with “walk with me” heARTbeatgal is collaborating with artist Rob Brazeau, and others, for his twenties prohibition era Nuit Blanche photo project at Social
my excitement for the night is starting to grow

we did it
it rained, but we shone
the sun did poke out once or twice

i also crossed paths with two lovely walking sticks to add to the collection
without whom i wouldn’t have made it out of the woods
we will go back just as soon as i can move my shoulders again

p.s. i suspect my nuit blanche walking sticks to be on the brain. there will surely be found at least one stick and heaps of inspiration to add to the project. “I love to go a-wandering along the mountain track, and as I go, I love to sing, my knapsack on my back…”

oddly enough, while working lame, on another limb, a tree branch
i re-located my wrist
apparently sawing with a dislocated wrist wasn’t
the worst idea i had that day
…and the walk with me walking stick project is off and away
this project has many sources of inspiration. one being a similar project by fellow heARTist Stephen B. MacInnis. there will be eight in total. the one above is the first and has started (with my sawing) its journey.
on the night of nuit blanche ottawa all eight hBg treated walking sticks will be set free. a small message will request of those that walk with us to share a snap of their journey with the stick before they pass it along or leave it to be found by another. if it works the way I hope it will the snaps will be uploaded to a group on flickr and this collage of snaps will tell a story.
…so i need my hand back because there are seven other walking sticks to start!

so Ottawa is joining the party with its first nuit blanche
a night, overnight September 22, “…paying homage to the incredible creative human spirit.”

heARTbeatgal is going to be a part because i believe this spirit is strong in ottawa
strong but silent
disparate, rather that silent, might be a better assessment
i count many pockets of artists, collectives, of various colours
besides which, I never need an excuse to celebrate creativity in all its forms
stay tuned for my project ideas…
