MoRE MoMA

j’adore Henri…

my last art history course is clearly still on the brain

(see above: a humble ode to Matisse, femme au chapeau)

my last expressionism class ends in a few hours

what’s a gal to do?

sign up for the other online MoMA course, Techniques of Post-War Abstract Painting

woot woot!

I need something to keep this brain from melting any further

…or is it the other way around?

getting some exercise

Adam the Great!

my expressionism instructor

challenged me for our last class

i have learned to hate less acrylic paint

i have learned abstraction is a challenge for me

i shared creative space with some lovely folk

i am thankful for all that

time & energy well spent!

corporate

ha!

la vie est belle

so Ottawa is joining the party with its first nuit blanche

a night, overnight September 22,  “…paying homage to the incredible creative human spirit.”

SAW Gallery, ottawa

heARTbeatgal is going to be a part because i believe this spirit is strong in ottawa

strong but silent

disparate, rather that silent, might be a better assessment

i count many pockets of artists, collectives, of various colours

besides which, I never need an excuse to celebrate creativity in all its forms

stay tuned for my project ideas…

meanwhile, my heARTist friends,

i encourage you to think about this event

it will only work if we collaborate and make it great

the clock

to be specific, Christian Marclay’s The Clock, on display at the National Gallery of Canada

(the clock below has nothing to do with The Clock,

but it is one hell of A clock, no?!)

The Clock…  a twenty-four hour video montage composed of thousands of scenes from film and television in which a clock or watch appears with the time. The film is synchronized with the real time. It functions as a real clock.

riveting. charming. comforting. oddly consistent. astounding really.

a beautiful whole made up of unique collected, bits. bits, i gather, collected in a collaborative fashion.

naturally, this appeals to my sensibilities.

each bit tells a story. the story ,in turn, made of bits.

a video collage.

i heard the best was from around one to four a.m.

i spent a few afternoon hours with the clock after sleeping through several mid-night attempts. dommage.

tick tock

time well spent

do mine eyes deceive me?

i celebrated, stupefied, the season’s first popsicle earlier this week

amazing!

today, I nearly drove off the road when I saw this

(i did a u-turn and pulled over even)

that is right. a dickie dee. in Ottawa. in March!

dumbfounded, my mother insisted we loop around back to try to cut her off

we needed proof

“at it already a week”, she tells us

i cannot decided whether this is really good news

or a rather ominous foreshadowing

we didn’t get a popsicle
